Santa Barbara's most beloved historic courtyard, La Arcada Plaza brings together 22 specialty boutiques, fine art galleries, and restaurants in an open-air Spanish Colonial Revival experience in the heart of the Arts District on State Street. Free to visit daily, the plaza features more than 20 works of public art, the famous turtle fountain with real Red Ear Slider turtles, an interactive Treasure Hunt art trail, and iconic details like the red London phone booth and a Tiffany-designed clock. Built in 1926 by architect Myron Hunt. Part of the El Pueblo Viejo Landmark District. Celebrating 100 years in 2026. Parking nearby.

Lots of cool stores to visit, and we actually went on a day they were having their fiesta days so there were a lot of cool venders out as well. I love all of the landscaping and decor they have too. Definitely worth a visit.

La Arcada Courtyard is a charming Spanish style shopping Plazza on State Street between Figueroa St and Anapamu St in downtown Santa Barbara. The Plazza is decorated with colourful tiles and has several cast bronze statues and fountains. There are many small specialty shops, restaurants, and a wine shop. The main fountain has a number of large and small turtles in it. This is a great place to stroll, shop and have a leisurely meal or snack. When visiting Santa Barbara this is a must see.
